Well, it has been many months since our last update. I couldn't remember my password to get into blogger for a few of those months and finally found it in my planner! Anyway, I'm glad to see the summer days of heat stroke go and feel some cooler temperatures. The summer was rough, really. It seemed like everytime we turned around it was, "Great. What's going to happen next?" The best part of the summer was the first week of it - Memorial Day weekend we went on vacation for a week to SC, but then after that great week, things started disintegrating around us.
The huge hail storm totaled our roof and totaled Greg's car. We just had a new roof done about a year ago. Sheesh! He had no car for a week or two and we were sharing the car. Nice.
Then the process of finding a newer car began - we ended up going to Tulsa where we had bought our Pilot - we had a great experience there the first time around and expected the same. We liked the car but the day after Greg drove it home, he noticed something wrong with the brakes. We had to work the system and finally got someone at the dealership to pay for the brakes to be fixed at a dealer here - who wants to travel to Tulsa with unreliable brakes?
Someone in a white hummer - a guy in his 30's driving his daddy's car and still living with his daddy- backed into me in the FedEx parking lot and left a dent costing about $1800. I had to defend my situation to the insurance people and it worked out - but we had that car in the shop for about a week and they provided a rental car that Greg just loved - not at all! After that, everywhere I went, for whatever reason, people were not paying attention and would almost back into me everywhere I went. It was stressful!
My 95 year old grandmother passed away in June and went to be with her Lord and Savior and her 12 siblings, parents, and husband (her husband had preceded her in death about 40 years ago.) My cousin Jeff officiated at the funeral and did an amazing job! We remembered and reminisced about Granny's peanut butter cookies, delicious mashed potatoes, favorite stories and funny moments, but most of all Jeff talked about Granny's big heart and love for the Lord and for children. Every now and then, I think about Granny, tear up, but know undoubtedly that I will see her again. "How Great Thou Art" Lord Jesus, when I am weary and worn, tattered and torn - you are there. There's a song Brooks & Dunn sing that's called "I Believe." The line goes something like, "I can't quote the place, the chapter or the verse but you can't tell me that it all ends with a slow ride in a hearse." I love that because it's so true - the Bible says, "To live is Christ, to die is gain."
It seemed like every other week Ben had a cold, or his allergies were crazy and he had a rash for a few weeks - awful, welpy everywhere, but the dr. said it'd eventually go away and it did.
There were more situations, of which, my mind is failing me, so I'll stop here and post some pics of Ben soon.
